Well-funded and with a team of ±30 people, we are ready to launch operations in the German market.

As we expand into the German market, we are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial professional to lead our expansion efforts within the German market.

Position: Business Development Manager

Location: Germany (location flexible)

Role Overview

Carbon Equity is looking for a highly motivated and strategic individual to join our team as the Business Development Manager for our expansion into the German market. As our first hire in this market, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our international expansion efforts. This position requires a results-driven, entrepreneurial, and commercially minded individual who thrives on building something from the ground up.

In this role, you will focus on acquiring new customers, building partnerships, establishing brand presence and driving our growth in the German market. You will be a true pioneer with the opportunity to build the Carbon Equity office from scratch in the German market together with the Chief of Staff and CEO.

The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, be comfortable executing hands-on initiatives, and possess a strong ability to navigate challenges while driving forward. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is ambitious, driven and wants to be part of building Carbon Equity's presence in Germany from the ground up.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • Co-develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy, encompassing inbound lead conversion, outbound outreach, partnership collaborations, and sales events
  • Work closely with the CEO and Chief of Staff, collaborating on the execution of the commercial strategy for Carbon Equity in Germany, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and objectives
  • Foster relationships with wealth managers, private banks, and other potential partners, establishing B2B2C partnerships that enhance the reach and impact of Carbon Equity's offerings
  • Help build the Carbon Equity Brand presence by pursuing media opportunities and partnerships and organizing events and initiatives to raise awareness about the company's mission, values, and investment opportunities
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Carbon Equity, representing the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Amsterdam, including marketing and compliance, to ensure seamless operations and effective implementation of strategies in the German market
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and investor preferences, leveraging this knowledge to inform sales strategies, refine product offerings, and maintain a competitive edge
  • Help build and manage a high-performing team by hiring, mentoring, and guiding new hires to establish a strong foundation for Carbon Equity's operations in the new market

Qualifications & Experiences

  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or a related field, preferably in a high-growth startup or scale-up context
  • Proven track record of success in B2C (or B2B SME) sales, including achieving and exceeding targets, and/or in entrepreneurship — e.g. building an (early-stage) company from scratch.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and creative problem-solving skills to identify and pursue new avenues for achieving results
  • Fluency in German and proficiency in English are essential, with excellent communication skills in both languages
  • Strong network and knowledge of the German market is a plus, but not mandated
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adapting quickly to changing circumstances and taking ownership of projects
  • Passion for sustainability and climate-focused initiatives, with a genuine interest in driving positive change and contributing to the growth of Carbon Equity
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and foster partnerships with stakeholders at various levels
  • Analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making, utilizing insights and metrics to drive informed strategies and optimize performance
